8 Quick Tips When Travelling to Italy







If you are planning to take an Italian vacation, below you will find a few tips or best some suggestions to make your Italian experience a more comfortable and pleasant one. Italy's richness in diversity and culture can be overwhelming for the tourist, but the following tips can help.


  • Take advantage of public transportation. Instead if you decide to drive, be prepared for Italian traffic. Before you rent a car, it would be a great idea to familiarize yourself with directions. The Italian railway is not confusing at all  because it's all easily connected.. 
  • Avoid the Metro (subway - underground - tube) on rush hours and if in Rome avoid the Colosseum on Sunday Mornings.
  • Restaurants during lunch are their busiest from 1pm to 2pm and  9pm for dinner. Keep in mind many restaurants may require reservations.
  • Learn a little about the Italian regions, the best way to truly understand a region is to stay in an agriturismo (countryside)
  • Shop at the markets. Italians take pride in their food. Obviously Italy is known for genuine,simple and quality cuisine. And the best way to explore and understand the food would be visiting the many open markets around Italy.
  • Many Italians speak English, but it wouldn't hurt to pick up a few good Italian words, Italian's appreciate that!
  • Many Shops close in Italy  open around 9am  to close around 1pm, then  to re open around 4,30/5 pm  till around  8pm. Most shops are closed on Sundays. Malls are usually open all day including Sundays.
  • Enjoy a gelato, an Espresso and a slice of Pizza while taking that afternoon stroll (passeggiata) and enjoy like Italians do.
